Some great moments from the lecture called A summer in the forest today. The Industrial + Product Design Programs are kicking off this year's lecture series with a lecture by Justin Bernard, Industrial + Product Design Lecturer and Shop Supervisor.
Hooke Park is the Architectural Association’s woodland site in Dorset, England. The 150-hectare working forest is owned and operated by the AA and contains a growing educational facility for design, workshop, construction, and landscape-focused activities. Today the forest is home to an experimental timber construction program know as Design + Make. In addition, the AA also hosts various short workshop courses. Students of the program design and build the facilities for the growing woodland campus. The current site has numerous round-wood constructions, designed by Frei Otto, which act as a point of reference for the students. Historically, Hooke Park was home to the School for Craftsmen in Wood and Parnham College.
This summer Justin was invited to participate in the Architectural Association's Design + Make SummerBuild program at Hooke Park. A poster with all of the relevant information is attached.
